On Moving and Messes

P7241685

Housework and naps (note the sleeping 2-year-old on the couch) and most everything else was a little out of control for a few weeks after the move. Thankfully, rooms—and our routines—are a bit more organized now.

“If your house is really a mess and a stranger comes to the door greet him with, ‘Who could have done this? We have no enemies.’” —Phyllis Diller

I can hardly wait to see more photos of your new home. My co-worker, Sylvia, and I look forward to all of your entries. She mentioned that Sophie must be really excited about her new home. We also can only imagive what the outside looks like. We work in a historical part of Houston, The Heights, with thousands of old beautiful homes. We both think it is unusual for someone as young as you to appreciate the past generations and your insight into life is amazing. Love Aunt Cheryl

I'll have to post some soon, Aunt Cheryl! Although will still have so much wallpaper removal and painting to do. I think much of my appreciation comes from an old editing job I had at Popular Woodworking magazine. Working there, I learned what good craftsmanship is and as such I've been totally spoiled! I'm totally one of those "they don't build them like they used to!" people now. That said, we often find ourselves up against very big projects, like stone foundation problems, inefficient furnaces, old windows, etc. … :)
